Curt has a broad background including degrees in Horticulture/Landscape Design and Natural Resource Management. While in his 20's he worked and managed two nurseries in Montana and another in Wyoming. He also spent a season contracting with the Forest Service doing Silvicultural stand exams in Northern Idaho and Montana. Another season doing Wilderness Research in the Eagle Cap Wilderness and Bob Marshall Wilderness and two seasons as Wilderness Ranger in the Great Bear Wilderness. His time in the field was mostly with backpack and the occassional packstring. Since those days he has done various jobs including over 15 years as a self employed custom cabinetmaker. His eye for details and problem solving skills allow him to be very creative when it comes to working out low impact solutions to environmental problems. A brief period working with Trout Headwaters Inc. more recently introduced Curt to stream restoration bio-engineering techniques. Concepts of hydrology and aquatic ecology brought together with years of native vegetation habitat experience are the new frontier. In the summer Curt can be seen on the trails around Livingston with his golden retriever, Bonny.
Bonny's role at the nursery, besides hostess and mouser, includes official water tester. She has proven willing to test even the most stagnant mudholes. Here she swims an old irrigation ditch which has been brought into the restoration process and now holds a population of trout.
